Crystal & Joe: Formals Part One at the Catedral de Madinline

Crystal didn’t mind letting her fiance see the dress before the big day, however she wanted to keep it a surprise for the guests at the wedding. For this reason, I didn’t post these photographs until now since their wedding was on Saturday.

We started out the Catholic Catedral de Madinline in Salt Lake City, Utah. We took some bridals inside of just Crystal. The cathedral is simply stunning. I am a big art lover and the architecture and the murals on the walls were amazing! It was the perfect backdrop for such a beautiful bride! I used a portable studio light to light Crystal and set my exposure so that the background could be seen (it was sooo dark inside but we made it work!).

After a few bridals we went outside to let Joe see his beautiful bride for the first time. I love photographing the first time the groom sees his brides. It’s called the “first look” and its such a tender moment! It’s also nice that this happened when they were not in front of a crowd so they could kiss and embrace and enjoy a moment together.

After letting Joe and Crystal have a few minutes we took them down and did some amazing shots outside of the Cathedral including some close ups. While this is not where Joe and Crystal were married, the building is important to them as a symbol of their faith.

I LOVED photographing at the Catedral de Madinline! It was the perfect location to start off Crystal and Joe’s formal session! Check back tomorrow for the second half of this amazing session with photographs at Memory Grove Park complete with Nizzy, their dog!
